Responsabilities

  • Review corporate, partnership and trust tax returns.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions.
  • Prepare tax planning memoranda.
  • Work closely with the transactional department on due diligence reviews.
  • Carry out tax research of various levels of complexity and prepare opinions and other tax documents.
  • Acting as a coach and advisor to team members to foster professional development and assist with problem solving.
  • Participating in the development of in-house tax training and providing training as required.
  • Participate in the performance appraisal process for team members.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in taxation or CPA Canada basic taxation course.
  • CPA designation.
  • 5 to 8 years of practice experience.
  • Experience in preparing and reviewing complex corporate tax returns.
  • Experience in preparing tax planning memoranda.
  • Experience in preparing tax provisions in accordance with ASPE standards and, for large corporations, IFRS standards (an asset).
  • Bilingual, both written and spoken (French and English).
  • Willing to travel occasionally, mainly in the greater Montreal area.

  • Ability to interpret and apply tax laws.
  • Very comfortable with tax research methods and databases.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage mandates and deadlines.
  • Ability to develop strong internal relationships and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to simplify and adapt communications to the audience, both orally and in writing.
  • Great attention to detail.
